Windows XP won't get DirectX 10

Jun 13th, 2006
ATI, in a recent meeting in London, mentioned that Microsoft won't release a version of DirectX 10 for Windows XP, instead making it an exclusive Vista feature. This is likely to encourage gamers to upgrade when Vista is made available sometimes in 2007. This decision has raised the ire of some gamers who feel they shouldn't have to upgrade their operating system to play a game. EVE Online announced that they will upgrade their popular space MMORPG's graphic engine to include DirectX 10 features, and Halo 2 will be a Vista-only title.

Opera 9 Beta

May 31st, 2006
I see the that Opera 9 is out in beta. According to the Opera 9 press release, it's got some neat new features — among them, the ability to "customize your search engines" which, I hope, means the ability to add search engines to Opera's search box easily. Right now, that's quite a little feat for people not used to modifying desktop applications. Another feature that I wish they'd implement: the ability to create folders in the RSS feeds tab. It would be nice for organizing feeds. But, dig this:

Microsoft wants to update Internet Explorer on a regular base

May 31st, 2006
Internet Explorer According to this entry on MSBLOG, Microsoft plans to release further versions of Internet Explorer on an annual base. And although I have my concerns, I do like the plan. No, I don’t use Internet Explorer, and neither I will in the future - after all, it will never be available natively for Linux. But up to now, it is the de facto standard browser for surfing the web, so developers have to ensure that their designs need to display correct at least in this browser, which is not that easy as one might ... read on  read-on

Apr 2nd, 2006
[...]On behalf of the WordPress community, I’m proud to announce a merger we’ve had on our minds since the first time we saw Dean Allen’s dog — WordPress and Textpattern are joining forces to create the greatest CMSMS ever, WordPattern. “WordPress and Textpattern: Two great tastes that taste great together.[...]

Nonsense or is it Sense?

Clearly a pratical joke? Or is there something going on we aren't aware of? On the other hand...why not? Could be big leap forward on some accounts. With all respect ofcourse to TextPattern and ... read on  read-on

My new WordPress theme

I have been searching and testing so hard I almost (that's the truth) forgot the first reason why I have this blog. And that is ofcourse writing stuff down. Shame, a real shame. Okay all over now. What do you think? Is this a usable theme? Is it okay to find your way ... read on  read-on

Will this go any faster?

Slow is a pain in the .... So I had to get things faster. I am not praised for my patience so I need things fast. Posts, pages, scripts, all faster. Huh. Am I losing it? No, stuff, pc's and so on must work with lightning speed. I am a dutchie, so in Holland we say "You paid for it so I want it". How many transactions per nano-/millisecond? Millions, trillions? Don't know. But WP is sooooo damned slow I had to crank it by hand almost. Found a solution. One who isn't strong must be ... read on  read-on

XHTML Strict Validation Update

Mar 1st, 2006

Filtering my XHTML code again

The past few days I have made the go ahead for myself to start with recoding everything to meet XHTML Strict 1.0 standards. Yes, it is quite a job to start with. But it gives such a feeling of satisfaction. This site was already up to the Transitional Standards so it wasn't too painful a task.

Adjusting the html tags

The main issues I had to deal with were the link tags. It is forbidden to use the oh so loved "target" attribute so that had to go. At first ... read on  read-on
